Statement

My art is an extension of my imagination. I see an object, or an image and I start to wonder, how it would look in a painting. Or the shape of the object will give me an idea about the composition of a painting. I then think about it for a day a week or years imagining what colours to use and the structure and style of the finished work. Building a map or blueprint of the painting in my mind. Then I get to work trying to recreate the image. Sometimes it goes as planned but other times it goes off in a completely different direction. My multi layered grid paintings represent the life of a person, the ups, downs, twists and turns. My ultimate goal is to create a recognizable artistic language all my own. I want to try to blur the lines between painting and sculpture.
